Guess what, Bahrain may be off……..again!

Wow, sometimes one just has to sit back and admire how much beaurocrats can really stuff up sport. We have the ongoing mess with Fifa and its dark overlord, Sepp Blatter, and then we had the decision to re-instate the Bahrain GP, despite the country still being in the grip of domestic unrest.

Now, Bernie Ecclestone says that the race taking place in Bahrain is extremely unlikely. But if that is the case, why in the hell did they have a meeting and put it back on. Some teams say they won’t go to Bahrain, others seem happy to go.

The bottom line is that it is morally wrong to go to Bahrain, you cannot bring a sporting event anywhere that is going through a nationwide period of unrest. An event that was even threatened by Bahrain dissidents, who threatened to use the race to send a message. Is this really the environment to bring in F1?

And what of the Indian GP, first it was being moved to December, now they may be back to their original timeslot, surely they must be feeling slighted? Or, are they struggling for time to be finished in time and would relish the extra time a season finale date might give them? And what of fans who booked packages to go to India for the GP, should they cancel, keep the bookings? Its sad that F1 supremos treat their fans with so much disdain.

Lets hope this whole dogs breakfast gets sorted out soon, as in the next few days. I for one, won’t be sad to see Bahrain disappear from F1 altogether.
